I believe that the only time when u are really free on your own path, is when you are still a toddler. Moving, stumbling and prodding stuff around. No one is there to guide you where to move. You are on your own.
However, as we grow up, we begin to expose ourselves to the stereotypes of the world. Wanna be rich? study more on investments, go banking, own business, become a doctor, whatever.
So basically, those who are really keen on being rich and famous would most likely follow this path.
Few have broken these stereotypes and attain what they want. Rags to riches stories are abundant in this world. Not only do they not follow the typical paths, but walked the road less travelled, and attained what they want.
So, shouldn't we break the stereotypes and travel on the path of our own?
The irony here would be that our paths are guided by our mind, and not such a bad habit, but our minds tend to look for patterns. The pattern as referred to over here would be the stereotypes that we are exposed to.
"Many people have walked the path and acquired what they longed for. Maybe I'll give it a go."
So our paths are guided by our minds, and our minds tend to look for stereotypes as role models.
In the end, paths are just stereotypes that many have walked and many have succeeded.
